The RENK period

Renk gearbox

From 1980 until 2000, Masson-Marine were an integral part of the MAN - RENK group as joint venture SEE (Société Européenne d'Engrenages).

During that period, SEE built and sold the transmissions as shown in this section; some have changed their name, others are no longer manufactured, but we still repair, recondition, and supply the spare parts for those gearboxes.

In order to find the gearbox that suits your power needs, please refer to the table opposite.

These transmissions are no longer built, but we supply spare parts and/or recondition the gears.

Those gearboxes are: ND3, NE3, NF3, NFA, NFB, NFC

Other designs:

ECD, ECL, EID, ESD, ESL - RCA, RCD, RSA, RSD, RSL - ECY, ESY, RSY

The number indicates the torque that can be transmitted by the clutch of the gearbox. Other numbering systems have evolved, but will not be discussed here, being irrelevant for other than internal use.

Please find below a table with its explanations.

First letter

R Reverse reduction gearbox (including a reverse gear)
E Clutch-type gearbox (no reverse gear)

Second letter

S Direction of rotation in "ahead" = engine rotation. Single engine applications.
C Direction of rotation in "ahead" = opposite to engine rotation
I Ahead direction of rotation = engine rotation. The overall reduction ratio is defined only by one ratio "K1" (unlike the "S" model, which has two gear trains K1 and K2). For twin engine, twin propeller applications, choose one "C" and one "I" type, respectively.

Y 2 input shafts for 1 output shaft
L Output shaft and input shaft are coaxial
A Slight vertical offset
D Vertical offse
