Grinding

The highest precision machining operation in the entire process

Grinding is the last operation in the machining cycle, it is the one that requires utmost care and the most accurate machining in terms of dimensions and tolerances.

External cylindrical grinding mainly concerns assembly surfaces (bearing surfaces or similar), the draw-up taper of a shaft-to-coupling-flange assembly, for instance.

Internal cylindrical grinding mostly concerns assembly surfaces such as the tapers in the gearwheels, tapers in the coupling flange for flange-to-shaft mating, and calibrated diameters (in clutch drums, hollow pinions, sleeves, etc.).

We also grind gear teeth (profile and helix correction).

In gear grinding, we implement 2 processes:

  • Profiled grinding wheel (HÖFLER grinding machine)
  • Straight shaped grinding wheel, with separate independent wheel dresser (REISHAUER).

3 work stations can be distinguished: plane and cylindrical grinding machines, gear grinding machines, and quality control.

HÖFLER H1000E. Capacity: modules from 1.5 to 14, minimum diameter 80 mm, maximum diameter 1,000 mm, working height 225 mm, maximum helix angle 45°; the number of teeth ranges from 12 to 372, maximum weight of part with jig: 1,500 kg. Profile and helix corrections are possible.

REISHAUER

REISHAUER RZ801 + grinding wheel dresser AM10. Capacity: modules from 0.5 to 8, minimum diameter 40 mm, maximum diameter 800 mm, working height 300 mm, maximum helix angle 30°, number of teeth ranging from 10 to 600; the maximum weight of the part with jig is 400 kg, center distance 750 mm. Profile and helix corrections are possible.

REISHAUER RZ701 + grinding wheel dresser AM10. Niles ZE 800

Acquisition of another grinding machine

Masson-Marine have recently purchased a "Niles ZE 800" gear grinding machine for helical gears, enabling us to achieve a gear grinding quality level DIN 3 for gearwheels up to 800 mm diameter.
