A passenger ship is a merchant ship which is used to go through rivers, make sea cruises or as bus-links between land and islands. 
As per maritime rules, a vessel with more 12 people on board is call "passengers vessel".

There are several types of ships:

- Bus boats
- High speed boats
- Ocean liners
- Cruise ships
- Ferries
